Armored cash in transit vehicles are used in transporting valuables, such as banknotes, coins, and items of value (precious metals, gemstones, etc.) from one location to another.
These vehicles are designed to resist attempts at robbery and hijacking. Bullet-resistant glass and reinforced shells and cabs are designed to handle bullets from most handguns and rifles. Armored Cash in Transit Vehicles normally have CCTV cameras which are watched by the driver, recorded in the van and also recorded at a remotely located control room in case the in-van recordings are stolen by thieves or attackers. A number of tools are applied to prevent access to the van by non-security staff including removing external door locks.
